More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Soft protected top layer provided by tree cover. A crust layer was apparent aprox. 25 cm deep. This 25 cm deep crust is what broke on an Extended column test @ 21. No other reactions were recorded during the stability test. the HNS was 190cm. I  dug 120cm to see if any weak layers would become factors. None were apparent.

Went out for a nice mellow day in the Leavitt area by myself. Strong solar radiation was apparent as some rollers were coming down on south-facing slopes. The rollers were starting near exposed rock creating warmer temperatures on adjacent snow surfaces.  Blue bird skies and calm winds made for a calm quiet day around 9,000  ft,
