Another beautiful day in the BWRA with moderate temperatures and not a cloud to be seen. Wind was moderate from the south causing visible, blowing snow transport above treeline and occasional saltation movement below treeline.  Last night, strong winds blew while a foot of new snow fell on variable crust layers.

Sticking to low angle terrain, I set out to assess how well the new snow was bonding to those crust layers. I chose an east aspect in the trees that had seen minimal affect from wind.  Snowpit tests produced results that fractured quite easily between the new snow and existing crusts but did not propogate. This suggests the snowpack could still use more time before it is reliable.
