More detailed information about the snowpack:

Went to look at Leavitt Lake but winds forced us down to some N/NE facing trees on Sardine Can Wall. Even in the trees, certain areas were stiff windboard, some loaded deep pockets, and some wind crust. The crust was 1-2" thick, but didn't propogate or extend to anything deeper. Some sloughing was observed in wind-loaded areas, but it was not enough to be dangerous where we were. The winds were howling out of the S/SW anytime you got exposed and snow was being transported all day. We felt comfortable on sheltered, low angle terrain but were surprised at the effect the wind had even here!
