More detailed information about the snowpack:

Today we rode into the Leavitt Lake area of BWRA. It was another calm and clear day with temperatures topping out at 38 degrees this afternoon at the Leavitt SNOTEL site at 9600ft.  After several weeks of high pressure, snow surfaces remain variable. We were still able to find some cold, recrystallizing snow within sheltered trees that made for some softer riding conditions. Most other areas have been either affected by the sun or wind, which has made for firm travel conditions in exposed areas.  We did observe some softening of the snow surface on southerly aspects near tree line during the early afternoon hours.
