More detailed information about the snowpack:

We snowmobiled up to the Sonora Pass area this afternoon. It was warmer and nicer than expected out with sunny skies and only moderate SW winds near tree line. We traveled near and below tree line today, not above tree line, and found wet snow surfaces on all southerly aspects and low elevation northerly aspects. We did not find any wet snow that was unsupportable to a snowmobile today. Near tree line northerlies had a thin melt freeze crust at the surface above dry snow. The thin melt freeze crust was generally frozen but moist in spots. We observed two small natural loose wet avalanches on near tree line NE aspects below rocks and cornices that most likely occurred 3/27. We also observed a small amount of snow being transported by the winds on above tree line northerly aspects, but any loading seemed to be very minimal.

Caltrans has begun plowing the 108 above Carbide Hill. There is now a significant amount of pavement present above Carbide Hill. Please park respectfully to allow their equipment the space to move around.
