More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Snow line at 7500'.  Found 16cm (6") of heavy, damp new snow on the road at the Leavitt Lake turn 8450'.  Hand pits in open areas off the road a few hundred feet higher showed 17cm of new snow with the upper 2 cm slightly stiffer than the F hard snow beneath.  Below this, 20 cm damp, F facets and several facet crust combos.    Height of snow in these areas 70 cm.  At 9000' wind drifted new snow up to 30cm on road.  No cracking or collapsing observed.

More detailed information about the weather: 

Traveled on Hwy 108 from about a 1/4 mile below Leavitt Lake turn off to above Sardine Meadows (8200'-9000').  Light to moderate WSW winds with mostly S1 snowfall.  A few periods of S2 around mid day.  Skies overcast with 1 or 2 short windows of sun.  Moderate blowing snow observed at these elevations.  Air temp .5 C at 12:00pm.
