More detailed information about the snowpack:

Today, USFS and FOBAC staff went to the PCT near Leavitt Peak to check for any motorized intrusion on the National Scenic Trail.  There was none. Surfaces on South aspects above tree line began to soften at mid-day which provided a few softer turns on the descent. No roller balls or sluffing under our skis was observed. During the ski tour, a mixed bag of surface conditions was the main concern for the day. Snow surfaces ranged from hard wind board, breakable crust and very firm old ski tracks. Ski crampons have been a key to safe travel in our recent field days.
