More detailed information about the snowpack:

Today we went for a tour out of Virginia Lakes. We were on the program of getting there early to get off the slopes early before the heat of the day. Here is what we found:

- The wind was stronger than anticipated keeping the snow colder, longer.

- People: It was great to see friends and fellow travelers enjoying Virginia Lakes.

- Snow: firm on the ascent but didn’t need crampons as it softened quickly. On the descent the snow was chattery and textured until we got out the wind. With the springtime conditions we found firm but edge-able snow up high, smooth reliable corn snow in the middle and grabby snow at the bottom.

- No signs of unstable snow were seen or felt.

- Southwest wind: It was nice to feel the fresh breeze throughout the day. A strong indicator of the incoming weather change that ramps up with more wind and moderate chances of snow on Monday.
