More detailed information about the snowpack:

Today we rode into the Mount Emma area. We parked our sleds and toured up some northeast- facing trees up to tree line.  We observed some pleasantly soft riding conditions within the sheltered, shaded trees.  Once we gained tree-line at 9700 ft, conditions transitioned rapidly to smooth and chalky wind board or crusty old surfaces.  Having ski crampons would have been helpful if we had decided to travel any higher.  Something we have noted is how weak the snow surface has become on northern aspects due to the cold nights and clear weather we have been having. This will be worth tracking once we start getting more snow again.
