More detailed information about the snowpack:

Today I traveled into the Twin Lakes area.  The weather was noticeably colder with moderate NE winds present.  These colder temperatures prevented any southern aspects from softening.  The lower elevations of the approach revealed thin conditions with a couple of avoidable dry sections closer to the trailhead.  Moving further into the drainage towards the Little Slide Canyon and the Barney Lake area, travel was supportable and firm with isolated pockets of softer snow in shaded areas.  Looking into Little Slide Canyon the shiny complexion of the snow surface was a good indication that travel is firm and icy in this area.  Ski and boot crampons maybe your best friend if you’re traveling into this terrain.
