More detailed information about the snowpack:

It was a beautiful day in the hills!  Went for an afternoon lap in Virginia Lakes and enjoyed partly sunny skys and good visibility from about noon until 3pm prior to our departure.  No new avalanche activity or signs of instability were observed.  No cracking was observed in newly formed wind slabs however we turned around about 400' below the South Peak summit.

Dug a quick pit on the NE flank of South Peak at 10,650' in a sheltered location: HS: 80cm, HST: 18cm, Slope Angle: 37* at this location.  ECTN7 at new snow/old snow interface.  Seemingly solid snow pack in this location.

The new snow skiied best on lower angle slopes with more bottom feeding on steeper slopes approaching 40*.
