The months of January and February has been marked by violent storm winds and very little snow. Last week’s and yesterday’s wind storms continued the relentless erosion of the snowpack in the BWRA. In addition, February sun and warm temperatures continue to melt snow cover on Highway 108 west of Leavitt Meadows.
The strong cold front that moved into the area on Sunday has moved south, but gusty northerly winds will continue to plague the ridgetops in the Sonora Pass area. By the end of the week, there are hopeful signs of snow reaching our area.
